| Froggy got a little hat. Insomnia does these things. Also I baked you a cupcake! Not really. But I wish I had, because it looks delicious. | |

what does St Patricks day do? During this day, the magics of the world turn the whole of Ireland green (and orange?). No one can explain how and why, all we know for sure is that it happens on this particular day. Just like the great pyramids, black holes and Santa Claus, this is one of the biggest mysteries in the universe.

| Not made out of sponges, but it is spongey so therefore spongecake, like Victoria Sponge Cake. With buttercream and jam in the middle =/ But Cardomom in cake? Isnt it a herb used in Asian cooking? | |

| It sounds.. moist.. Asian? Really? It goes very well with sponge cake though. Makes it very "Christmassy". | |

| Cardomom is a spice, yes and the sponge cakes I make have no "filling", cardomom in this case is part of the... dough like thing I dont know the english word for. Smet. | |

| Batter. I've never even heard of a sponge cake with filling before. This needs further investigation. To Google! Edit: Wow, this is interesting. Our sponge cakes normally look like this. And that's it. What's the difference between a filled sponge cake and a normal cake without topping? | |

| Well we have them like that sometimes but not often (must be stolen from you). Ours are a little shorter, no dip in the middle, not ribbed and perfectly round, then theyre cut in the middle to make 2 circles and filled with a cream/condiment to make a "Sandwich Cake". Like a Victoria Sponge Cake is a sandwich cake with whipped cream and jam in the middle and icing sugar on top. You can add cocoa to the batter to make it chocolate and add fudge icing and you have a choc fudge sponge cake. or you can use lemon curd as a filling and add zest to the batter and you have lemon sponge. Erm? same with orange... not heard of it being done with lime. Er.... dont make it into a sandwich but add white choc and put buttercream on top and put raspberries on for a nice cake. | |

| It sounds awesome. I'll have to try it some time. Maybe I should spend a day baking filled sponge cakes and crumpets. | |

| Well, our pre made birthday cake bottoms basically is spongecake...
Coincidence: I made tiger cake just a few days ago, before reading about all this. Tiger cake is spongecake, where you put about ½ to 2/3 of the batter in the pan, and then add cacao to the rest and then put it in, so that it gets kind of a pattern.
I feel like making a cake now...
